About Me

Well, things just keep getting bigger and bigger.  The Heroes Con recently announced two more big names for this summer.  J. Scott Campbell and Humberto Ramos are going to make an appearance.  Campbell is the creator and artist of Danger Girl, while Ramos is the creator and artist of Crimson.  I think it’s incredible that they are going to be there.  As a personal favorite, today they announced that artist Tom Raney is going to be at the Con.  I’m excited.  I’ve been a fan of Raney’s for a long time.  His work on Mutant X and StormWatch was great.  I’ve always been a fan of his style.  He co-created another of my fave characters, Jack Hawksmoor of StormWatch and The Authority.  I’m definitely going to be on the hunt for some original art by him.

On to the direct front.  The script for Revelations 23 is now complete.  It took me a while to finish the last part of the book, due to an additional work load at the paying job and family stuff, but it’s done now.  I feel pretty good about the first issue.  I will say, it’s been years since I’ve written in a comic format, so I keep forgetting to add sound effects, narrative, and I’ve never been a fan of thought balloons for the most part.  It’s coming back to me, though.  Now that we’ve established the main players, the next issue will delve into our hero, Ariel’s quest, and the villain, Vaizier’s, goal and motivation.  I really like the concept, and hope that I can do it justice.  This book is different from some of the other stuff than I’ve done where it doesn’t have a particular tone or mood.  It’s very ebb and flow.  There’s something very challenging about that.  Hopefully, I’ll some preview pages to post.  We’re moving to get the finished book ready in time for the Con.  If not, we’ll have very nice preview or ashcan, and some promo stuff, posters and postcards, flyers, etc.  You won’t be disappointed.

So, Unwanted Heroes.  Due to a lack of time, I’ve had a setback in the stand alone story Bury My Mask at Washington Square.  The good news is, like everything with this story, the setback has given me more time to think about how I want things to move, and has again taken things in a new direction.  Now that I’ve gotten a lot of things taken care of, and off my immediate plate, I can move back to it.  I fully expect to have the story done with the next 2 weeks.  If you’ve been following UWH and like the story, you’re going to like Bury My Mask.  This additional time to think has added a component to the story that I plan on bringing back into the main story arc as things move along.  The foundation for this story arc is firmly laid down, so after chapter 6 we’ll be moving back to main thread.  Excuse me for a minute, but I can’t get enough of this world.  Building it and the characters, the back stories and foreshadowing.  I love it.  I haven’t felt this strong about a story before.  It’s energizing and revitalizing at the same time.

With that being said, I guess I should get back to it.
